NEW MEXICO ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION |
2020 President's Message
Dear Friends and Members,
Our fall conference was well attended and favorably received. We had the opportunity to interact with representatives of the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) and the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO), opening the doors to new opportunities for our organization to partner with these national organizations to enhance our organization and provide additional training opportunities to you, our membership. Out objectives continue to be: excel in providing training and certification opportunities for membership, being a strong and vocal advocate for public health and environmental health policies, provide networking opportunities, develop a Community of Practice, and become a leader in the field of environmental health in New Mexico.
Our previous President, Bart Faris, was committed to realigning our focus and actions in line with those of NEHA, in the areas of food safety, air quality, water quality, healthy homes, preparedness, climate change, vector and pests, tracking and informatics. Your new board and I are committed to continue in that direction. Accomplishing these goals will take all of us working together, each supporting the others. NMEHA has several standing committees and we need your participation. Those committees are the Education Committee, Membership and Public Relations, Professional Advancement, Awards and Scholarships, IT/Internet/Social Media. If you are interested and willing to help out on one of the committees, please let us know and we will get you connected. As with any organization, you will get out of it what you put into it. If you aren’t available to commit to serving on one of our committees, please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts, comments, or recommendations with us.
Thanks to all our members for the job you do every day to protect the health of the public here in New Mexico, and beyond. I look forward to serving you and serving with you as we move forward in protecting the public in all areas of environmental health.
Sincerely,
John Rhoderick
